What GPU?  If it is nVidia, which kernel driver?  If it is nVidia's
binary-only driver, we cannot help you here (but you can ask for help on the
nVidia forums).

You probably have a better chance of getting an answer on the linux-thinkpad
mailinglist, it is unlikely that this problem has something to do with the
thinkpad-acpi driver.

Anyway, please look at http://thinkwiki.org, maybe there is something there
about the problem you see.  The address of the mailinglists are in
thinkwiki, as well.
