how to force system to mount USB device after it is inserted?

I want my system to mount a usb device through my own script if my system does not mount it automatically after USB is inserted.

Where should I start to look (that means my script will be called to check if USB is mounted or not when USB device is attached? 

Any help will be appreciated!
