Hello, My hardware platform has a Supermicro C2SBC-Q motherboard. With Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and the 2.6.24.7-149.el5rt realtime kernel and a Sealevel 5102 synchronous serial communications card plugged in the PCI bus, the HAL daemon hangs during boot. There is no way to view a precise error indication as the system is totally locked up. This problem does not happen when booting with the more vanilla Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 2.6.18-194.el5 kernel. I've informed both Sealevel and Red Hat about this problem. After a month I still do not have an adequate explanation why this is happening from either vendor. Udev may provide an explanation. Please comment.
