There have been several attempts in the past to integrate the parport
infrastructure properly with the driver model. You can have a tree of
devices hanging off a parallel port, but that is not properly exported
the kernel. The last attempt was done by Hannes a while back, but it
never got finished. Legacy parport it's just dead today, and it will
never happen, I guess.
