hi, I got a Kobil M-Identity from my bank "Migros Bank" because I' a customer of them. albeit Migros Bank claims Linux support, theyr hint about permissions for making M-Identity work is lousy, especially when considering it in context of a "Swiss Bank Security Solution"[TM] <http://www.migrosbank.ch/de/MBancNet/MIDentity/faq_linuxkonf.htm?popup= true> my improved solution proposal of a proper, separate Udev rule file does not seem to be of theyr interest. therefore I send this to you becuase I feel that it makes sense to include it to the udev repository. I understand that not many people out in the world have such a device, but in my opinion it makes sense to support it "the right way"[TM] off the heart of udev. here a separate udev rule file for Kobil M-Identity crypto safe usb storage, maybe the udev repos has already another file to which this line can be added. file /etc/udev/rules.d/45-midentity-permissions.rules """ # 2008-11-05 Kobil mIDentity, license GPL, author Stephan Schwerzmann SUBSYSTEM=="block", ATTR{vendor}="KOBIL[ ]+", ATTR{model}="mIDentity[ ]+", GROUP="plugdev" """ as a side note, interesting enough Kobil does not mention Linux compatibility of it's M-Identity product anywhere on its website where I could find it... <www.kobil.de> best regards Stephan -- Stephan Schwerzmann - Software Engineer Schmid Telecom AG, Binzstrasse 35, CH-8045 Zurich, Switzerland Tel: +41 44 456 14 33 Fax: +41 44 466 94 33 www.schmid-telecom.com -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-hotplug" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
