As long as the channel and basic radio parameters are the same, this is
possible (and what most 'repeater' devices do...)

There is a third-party patch in OpenWrt to achieve that:

Apart from that, also wpa_supplicant itself is capable of managing
multiple virtual interfaces on top of the same radio and that should
be sufficient also for simple AP interfaces ('mode=2') using WPA2-PSK.
