ath9k supports 80211r - mainly driver have to pass frames (auth/assoc)
to hostap.
Hostapd doing the work.

I have:
AR93xx, AR9462 miniPCIx - works fine.
Seems you show old miniPCI - you  need really old laptop to have this slot :)
Remember that some vendors lock VID/PIDs for such slots...
