How to instruct wpa_supplicant to dump its state into wpa_supplicant.conf

Hello,

I'm writing an application that talks to my wpa_supplicant via dbus
and I'd like to instruct wpa_supplicant to write out its current
configuration to wpa_supplicant.conf in order to keep the wifi
configuration persistent across reboots.

There doesn't appear to be an api that I can call that will instruct
wpa_supplicant to dump it's current SSID,PW/etc details in
wpa_supplicant.conf

Is there another way to do this?

Please let me know what you think.
