It looks like this is some kind of issue specific with the driver and
that driver was described in this way:

My wlan chip is a "Broadcom Corporation BCM43142 802.11b/g/n (rev 01)"
(Dell VOSTRO), so
i have to use the non-free package broadcom-sta-dkms.


I do not know which driver that is, but it sounds like some proprietary
driver.. Someone familiar with that driver (and with the hardware in
question) would likely need to take a closer look at what is failing.
