That would be fine, but making libhail depend on libevent seems
unpleasant. There's a whole bunch of clients such as tests and
command-line tools that do not need that.

Back in the day I spent some effort divorcing libhail and libevent.
With some thinking it should be possible for tcp_write_* as well.
