As summary: can anyone please confirm development on Darwin is still active and,

The vast majority of GTK+ development happens on and within the context of Linux platforms and their issues/designs/needs. GTK+ continues to function and even be improved on Windows and OS X because there are a few applications using GTK+'s touted cross-platform abilities. When those applications run into issues, most of the time the problems get fixed, typically with involvement from developers of those apps. If there are problems not encountered by those apps, or if they are discovered by someone not willing to get involved in GTK+ itself, they will likely persist for some unbounded period of time.

The vast majority of GTK+ works as expected on OS X.
