I kinda figured that gtkmm could compile under 64 bits given it is 2015.

But before I start developing, I want to make sure without any reason to doubt.

gtkmm, like almost all open source software with at least one foot in the linux world, naturally builds for 64 bit. Linux has supported 64 bit systems for a very, very long time now.
