You can make a 10 pixel wide, 2 pixel high black PNG, load that into a GtkImage, then put the GtkImage into the cell. http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/stable/GtkImage.html It'd be nice if you could stretch the gtkimage to the exact width you need, but I don't think that's easy, unfortunately.
