GLib 2.23.0 is now available for download at: ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/glib/2.23/ http://download.gnome.org/sources/glib/2.23/ md5 sums: 75909517629c54e5c5b36d8e233915a9 glib-2.23.0.tar.bz2 d385230335add45c14fc2df63890b2b3 glib-2.23.0.tar.gz sha1 sums: 8dc4905b4dc280320b2fd4bce4f41b87a5b64040 glib-2.23.0.tar.bz2 470fbbc06d5fa70643777cec5b0edd4c03c7f05f glib-2.23.0.tar.gz This is the first development release leading up to GLib 2.24. Notes: * This is unstable development release. While it has had a bit of testing, there are certainly plenty of bugs remaining to be found. This release should not be used in production. * Installing this version will overwrite your existing copy of GLib 2.22. If you have problems, you'll need to reinstall GLib 2.22. * GLib 2.24 will be source and binary compatible with the GLib 2.22 series; however, the new API additions in GLib 2.23.0 are not yet finalized, so there may be incompatibilities between this release and the final 2.24 release. * Bugs should be reported to http://bugzilla.gnome.org. About GLib ========== GLib is the low-level core library that forms the basis for projects such as GTK+ and GNOME. It provides data structure handling for C, portability wrappers, and interfaces for such runtime functionality as an event loop, threads, dynamic loading, and an object system. More information about GLib is available at: http://www.gtk.org/ An installation guide for the GTK+ libraries, including GLib, can be found at: http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/gtk-building.html Overview of Changes from GLib 2.22.x to GLib 2.23.0 =================================================== * GIO: - GConverter: a generic interface for stateful conversions of data, suitable for charset conversion, compression, decompression, regexp replacement. Concrete implementations are GCharsetConverter, GZlibCompressor and GZlibDecompressor. GConverterInputStream, GConverterOutputStream are stream implementations that convert data while loading or saving it. - GMounts can now have a 'default location': a path that reflects the main entry point for the user (e.g. the home directory). - As a consequence of the compression support, GIO depends on zlib now. * GObject: - G_IMPLEMENT_INTERFACE_DYNAMIC: a convenience macro for adding interfaces to dynamic types. * GModule: - The -pthread flag has been added to all gmodule .pc files, because it is not generally permissible to load modules that are linked against libpthread if the program has not been compiled with threading support. * Bugs fixed: 601637 GUnixFDMessage should contain a GUnixFDList 585566 GSocketListener API issues 572252 Bug in g_file_test() function. 600550 g_app_info_create_from_commandline doesn't treat arguments... 541236 not detecting exact content type 350200 [PATCH] GTypeModule derived class unref does not unload plugin 589631 Please enclose literal values with double quotes 577711 cross compile check for g++ broken 600620 Support X-GNOME-FullName in GAppInfo 598899 GWin32DirectoryMonitor is broken 593809 Nautilus does not restore the position of the icons... 563627 g_get_prgname() threadsafety 600141 Add -pthread to gmodule pkg-config 593856 file and directory monitors don't work when glib is compiled... 324930 Nautilus should disallow copying of symlink to FAT drive early 587300 Deadlock when calling g_cancellable_disconnect in a... 595138 GFile not robust with invalid input 591216 Warning building resolver.o 590016 Does not compile under MinGW32 + Wine 591214 Warnings building gcancellable.o 561998 Have specific entry points (paths) for mounts... 508157 Add G_IMPLEMENT_INTERFACE_DYNAMIC 535159 g_file_has_parent * Updated translations: Brazilian Portuguese Catalan Estonian Galician Norwegian bokmål Shavian Slovenian Spanish Swedish Thanks to our contributors: Alexander Larsson Tor Lillqvist Tomas Bzatek Chris Wilson Tim Janik Cody Russell Sven Herzberg Benjamin Otte Carlo Bramini Hib Eris Paolo Bonzini Stéphane Démurget Ryan Lortie Javier Jardón Vincent Untz Christian Dywan Juan A.
