I understand that. What I'm looking for is the specific place to call append_text.I need to do it when the list box of the combo box pops up.
The problem here is that I don't know the choices that will be in the combo box atdesign time. And the "popup-shown" property:(http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/stable/GtkComboBox.html#GtkComboBox--popup-shown)is from 2.10 forward.
I want to be able to do it on the earlier versions of GTK+.
