no. the goal is to make it faster, not provide options to unfuck
applications doing stupid things.

Firefox should not do something that dumb, and use the infrastructure
that GTK and GNOME provide to access the list of available applications
that advertise themselves as capable of opening the MIME type of the
file that is being downloaded. opening in /usr/bin is completely
idiotic, and this has been pointed out many times - even to the mozilla
developers.
