Also TIFF files saved from mspaint failed when they were bigger than ~60 KB, succeeded otherwise... And occasionally pixbuf-read simply crashed for the bigger ones... the backtrace in gdb wasn't that useful, the crash was somewhere in ole32.dll as called from gdiplus.dll. This doesn't look good.
