Hi, I would like to create an application that can embed widgets provided by other application/processes ... much like the gnome-panel. And I would like to know if it is possible without recreating a graphical API using dbus (unless there is something that already exists), nor use xembed. The reason why I don't want to use xembed is that it provides very little integration between the 'widgets' drawn. As an example, you can't draw a menu like that. At least you can't with the gnome-panel. Try for example to open a menu in the menubar applet, then then try to open the mixer applet menu only by moving the mouse over the applet icon, without clicking. That's not possible. You'll need to click twice, one to close the first menu, one to open the second. A solution could be to map the complete Gtk api to dBus, but that's quite some work ... And I'm not sure about the efficiency. So the question finally gets down to ... is it possible to achieve a better integration ? And any ideas how ? Thanks.
