Hello World!, I'm new to this list and I'm even quite new to linux at all, but as long as this is not the wrong place to send my suggestions to, I hope that it doesn't matter. Well, my Idea's surely not new but I still hope you didn't discuss and denied it already: What I'd like is a basis for separating the menu of a window, from the top of it or even from the whole Window. Most of you might already think of the Menu-Bar used in Mac OS X and you might call me a selfish Apple-Junkie, but I don't want to suggest to change the default look of gnome, etc. to be more like OS X, I suggest to give the Desktop Environments more Freedom, what I believe to be one of Gtk's aims, in Handling, this time, the menu. I would lie if I said my goal was else than getting the Menu up in the Bar like it is on OS X, but I think there are many more ways to handle the main menu, and there might be found better solutions that even I'll prefer to the Mac-way, and I think it's worth it. The menu is and i suppose it will stay an important part of the window, as there will always be functions of any Program that are needed but not worthy an own button. They might be put in a "box" that can be hidden and shown with any technique but that's in most cases some sort of a menu again that would not provide much comfort compared to a well-embeded menu. I was thinking of a circled menu round the cursor, appearing with a hotkey, placing the menu on any side of the window, ordering it by the way it is used automatically or in the way people prefer manually. I believe there to be many possibilities I didn't think of to make a menu much more useable than it is today. And after all, I think the word we've all been waiting for: As it's nothing else than the possibility to customize the menu, everyone should find a solution that pleasure's him. Hope I'm not completly wrong in here and my english didn't hurt anybody, Greetings Abstaubaer _______________________________________________________________________ Jetzt neu!
