GLib is the low-level core library that forms the basis for projectssuch as GTK+ and GNOME. It provides data structure handling for C,portability wrappers, and interfaces for such runtime functionality as an event loop, threads, dynamic loading, and an object system.
GLib 2.14 is a stable release adding an incremental improvementin functionality over GLib 2.12 while maintaining binary andsource compatibility.
Major new features include:
 * GRegex: an implementation of Perl regular expressions, based on PCRE
 * GSequence: a list that is implemented using a balanced binary tree * g_get_user_special_dir(): Support for xdg-user-dirs
