The idea to build and intall everything in a separate directory is not uniquely mine, see, for example, http://www.gobolinux.org/ -> http://www.gobolinux.org/?page=at_a_glance . The next release of my tool will allow to specify a subset of described targets on command line, e.g. /ibm/home/sergei/AppsFromScratch/20061104/bin/build.pl -targets_to_build gcc4:gtk+ -make_like > & ! build.log & I am also going to introduce dumping of dependency tree, so people will be able to see what actually depends on whta, etc. --Sergei.
