Could you be more specific here? Is the gtk.immodules file broken in
some win32 package on ftp.gtk.org?

patch (reversed, heh):

--- gtk/gtkimmulticontext.c	Mon Apr 24 09:56:30 2006
+++ gtk/gtkimmulticontext.c.orig	Sun Mar 20 06:13:15 2005

if we didn't comment this string:

strcmp (contexts[i]->domain_dirname, GTK_LOCALEDIR) == 0)

after text-entry popup menu opened once, locale was switched back to en (C), and we were seeing menu item captions in english instead of russian (Win32 only).

Something lacking in my build of gettext you mean? Should I provide a
newer version of gettext?

Symbol need to be exported for libintl.dll: _nl_msg_cat_cntr
That symbol is used to dynamically switching locale, like that:

setlocale( LANG, "xx" );
_nl_msg_cat_cntr++;

to allow gettext library switch domain (path to *.mo files).
