I've written shell interface to GTK+ (2.6.1) for doing simple dialog and relatively static layout. http://home.eol.ca/~parkw/index.html#gtk It's mainly designed to eliminate the need for external programs, like 'dialog' or 'Xdialog'. It reads XML syntax from stdin/file using Expat XML parser, and makes appropriate GTK+ calls from Expat callbacks.
