Is an error in the > gtk main loop supposed to be able to cause this, or this a bug in gtk/pygtk in > addition to my own bugs? how about ctrl+alt+del. is that unresponsive? overloading the system can make it seem like the interface is frozen. look for: enormous memory leaks, recursive functions that never return, a spinning loop that doesn't terminate, or worse: a spinning loop that forks new processes, etc..
