I agree with Stian's recommendation and would also suggest updgrading to GTK 2.6.2 or above. We had a real mystery with one of our multithreaded applications (12 threads, Windows, dual CPUs, WinGtk) that would occasionally crash. Upgrading GTK from 2.4.13 to 2.6.2 fixed the problem. (Although I can't point to any glib/gthread change that would directly fix our problem.)
