The symbolic link is not supposed to exist. As Owen explained to you already someone obviously thought it would be needed and created it. That was wrong though. If you compile your GLib and GTK+ apps as described at http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/gtk-compiling.html you won't have to fiddle with glibconfig.h.
