But the main problem is IMHO 2.4 depdendency -- true, 2.4 brings private variables and nice cargo cult macros like G_DEFINE_ABSTRACT_TYPE_WITH_CODE(), but 2.4.0 is just a few months old and people should not depend on it today if they don't actually need the new features.
