If your gtk+ app doesn't do any X11-specific calls all you need to do
is to recompile against GTK+-DirectFB. I suggest however you use
gdk-directfb from CVS. That version works with GTK+-2.4 while the
latest released gtk+-directfb tarball is still at GTK+-2.0.

You won't need python bindings unless you need to use the DirectFB or
gdk-directfb APIs from python. For most apps you shouldn't have to.
