We are trying to build gtk+ 2.3.2 under Solaris 2.8 using gcc 3.3. We installed pango 1.3.6, libxft 2.1.5, atk 1.5.2, glib 2.3.2 and pkgconfig 0.15.0. During the configuration we got the following message: sh: gnome-config: not found configure: error: Xft version 2 is required for x11 target In the config.log file, we found: configure:25168: result: yes configure:25202: error: Xft version 2 is required for x11 target We already set the PKG-CONFIG variable and had no problem using libxft while we compiled pango 1.3.6. Why can't the gtk+ configure script find xft? Also why is "gnome-config" used in here? Didn't it already go away with gtk+ 1? Any help will be appreciated.
