If I were you I'd grab a memory debugging tool (I've used ccmalloc) and let that lose on your code and gtk+. It's not entirely trivial and I've never used it on large libraries. Read the docs. There are probably better tools. I'd ask over at a Unicx programming Usenet newsgroup.
