I did: 'cat /home/kurt/.gtkrc-2.0 >> /usr/share/themes/Default/gtk-2.0/gtkrc' as root and the problem was solved.

At least on my Fedora system, /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc has in it:
gtk-theme-name = "Bluecurve"
/usr/share/themes/Bluecurve/gtk-2.0/gtkrc looks like the file needed at
that point. If your default theme isn't Bluecurve, salt-and-pepper to
taste....
