I thought Slack 9.1 had gtk 2.0? I'm pretty sure 9.0 did. But when I look in /usr/lib I only see:

pawn:/usr/lib# ls libgtk*
libgtk-1.2.so.0 libgtk.so libgtkhtml-2.so
libgtk-1.2.so.0.9.1 libgtkhex.a libgtkhtml-2.so.0
libgtk-x11-2.0.la libgtkhex.la libgtkhtml-2.so.0.0.0
libgtk-x11-2.0.so libgtkhex.so libgtksourceview-1.0.la
libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 libgtkhex.so.0 libgtksourceview-1.0.so
libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.200.4 libgtkhex.so.0.0.0 libgtksourceview-1.0.so.0
libgtk.a libgtkhtml-2.a libgtksourceview-1.0.so.0.0.0
libgtk.la libgtkhtml-2.la

I'm personally dont use Slackware, but you have at least gtk+-2.2.4 installed (libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.200.4 points to this)...
