what is the GstType that's passed to the gst_element_register() call for plugin_init?

Thanks Mike, that explains why I can't find this function in certain cases.
Is there a general guide line as to when I should implement my own get_type() function?

In most plugins, the get_type() function is provided by the
GST_BOILERPLATE or GST_BOILERPLATE_FULL macros.
