this is generally a good idea and I thought about this, too.
But I don't like the static number of mice. I would like to have it dynamicly,
which is partly integrated in 1.20.1 (see server_tools.c).

... later I want to have -autodetect in gpm, so gpm tries to autoconnect
the protocols.
But for this action we also need to have reset functions for every protocol
type. I think about having multiply mice support in gpm 1.20.3 and 
autodetect somewhere in gpm 1.20.8.
