I have this same sort of
issue... but I could narrow the problem to a few things: 1) signaling part: as I
have to pass 3 GK up in hierarchie, until reach the router (a gatekeeper
directory) it takes me 1~2 seconds; 2) PSTN connection: when
I use R2 signalization, on a AS5300 GW, it takes me at least 4 seconds (it can
be as high as 25 seconds) to hear the PSTN ring; 3) PSTN connection: when
I use ISDN-Q931 signalization, on the same AS, it takes only 1~2 seconds to
hear the ring. So, I would say to first
test an IP-Phone <-> IP-Phone communication and meter delays…. Then
IP-Phone <-> PSTN. The first is a typical network delay and the
difference to the second is the PSTN connection time. Try to work on each part
