Guys

Just a quick note to let you know there is a new release of PacPhone.
www.pacphone.com

This version includes:
Secure Instant Messaging:
You can now send secure instant messages between PacPhone clients (inside
and outside a call) using any version of GnuGK. The method uses lightweight
call setups to initiate Instant Messaging sessions. It should have no
effect on any other H.323 equipment you might have. For instance you might
try to open a IM session with a H.323 IP Phone and the device should just
simply reject the call (PacPhone should display "No Feature Support" call
end reason). Each IM session is protected by a single use key negotiated
between the parties in the call setup and the messages are encrypted to
AES256. It also supports hyperlinks and emoticons. The interoperable
unencrypted version source code has been released under MPL in the openh323
project.

Registration Priority:
You can assign a registration priority to PacPhone with GnuGK (new in
v2.2.5) to avoid "duplicate Alias" issues. For instance you might be using
an IP Phone and PacPhone with the same registration. When you register
PacPhone with a higher priority, it will instruct GnuGK to unregister the
IP Phone and register PacPhone so calls will automatically flow to the
softphone.

Enhanced NAT Traversal:
PacPhone already has GnuGK Nat traversal support. In this new version (to
work with GnuGK v2.2.5) calls can be placed to and from NATed H.323 clients
without the need to proxy any media. This is achieved by PacPhone
negotiating with GnuGK to instruct the NATed endpoint to stream the media
directly to the PacPhone client. This greatly enhances the scalabilty of
GnuGK by reducing the amount of proxying needed. Future versions of
PacPhone and GnuGK (under development) will allow the streaming of media
directly between the parties even if both parties are NATed.

Oh and there are a few other small bug fixes too.

BTW: There are a whole lot of other "features" sitting in the wings which
are going to be developed/released over the coming months which will
hopefully turn GnuGK and PacPhone into one serious "Skype killer" :-).
