While I do understand the backward compatibility issues, but couldn't we have a config parameter for this whose default value would be to show the CDRs in case the parameter is absent in the ini file? Or, in case of "trace 0", couldn't we still have the StatusAcct messages displayed? That way, I get to see only my StatusAcct formatted output without writing any external script.
