Re: Segmentation Fault on Suse 10

If the problem is fixed, then it must have been
something wrong with the compilation, which
is quite common.

I managed to fix it on my own....recompiled everything from scratch and it worked fine...something goofy must have happened during the original compile that didn't generate any errors but caused the crash...

I've got a core dump file from the old compile if you still want the info though...

Thanks!

Could you compile a debug version, collect a core dump
and send us a stack backtrace from the crash? That would let us
to identify and fix the bug. You can browse the list archive

from a core dump file with gdb.

ok, after some more testing, I've got a more specific cause for the crash...

anytime an endpoint tries to register, GnuGK generates the segmentation fault. The endpoints I've tried to register so far are a Cisco 3540 MC06A MCU running v4.1.9, and a PC with Polycom PVX 8.0.0.0522...

the logfile looks normal. Just reporting what's going on, then I can see where the registration begins to takeplace, and then it quits at these lines everytime, which occur just after all the registrationRequest info in the logfile:

2006/01/23 13:59:08.529 5 job.cxx(352) JOB Worker threads: 6 total - 6 busy, 0 idle 2006/01/23 13:59:08.529 5 job.cxx(161) JOB Worker 1096182704 started 2006/01/23 13:59:08.529 5 job.cxx(180) JOB Starting Job RRQ at Worker thread 1096182704 2006/01/23 13:59:08.529 1 RasSrv.cxx(343) RAS RRQ Received

the machine it's running on is a P4 2.8 w/ Hyperthreading disabled (I get the same error with it enabled) , 1GB RAM, Suse 10.0, OpenH323 Mimas Patch 2, pwlib Mimas patch 2, and GnuGK 2.2.3 precompiled binary for Linux, all downloaded from Sourceforge. OpenH323 and pwlib were compiled from the source with no problems. the same error occurs (along with a goofy compile error during make) when GnuGK is compiled from the source...

hope this helps to clarify the issue...

Thanks!

after starting gnugk, it runs for 5-10 seconds, then terminates with a segmentation fault error. It does this for both the prepackaged Linux binaries, and compiled from the source...

any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'd rather not have to spend $5000 - $10000 for a proprietary gatekeeper...
