-Is gnugk listening to *all* interfaces (might be tun0 instead of eth0)?
-Is the routing configured correctiy (I have a similar setup and remember a 
nasty routing issue (I had to open the firewall fot the VPN routing addresses 
- 10.10... - as well) 
- have you disabled STUN? Otherwise the RTP packets get the outside IP address 
as sender and the return ends up in nirvana.
These issues do not occur if your machine not the one with the OpenVPN server.
