Use Ethereal or a similar tool to debug it.

The box should respond to the GCF with an RRQ, and gnugk should then
send an RCF (or RRJ). It appears that gnugk is not receiving any RRQ,
so the first question is whether the box is sending them.

If not: is the GCF being sent on the right interface to the correct
address, on the right port, and with valid contents (correct RAS
address, good checksum, etc.)?

If yes: is the RRQ being sent to the correct address, on the port
that gnugk is listening, and with proper content?

If you have any firewalls, routers, etc. between the box and
gnugk, you may need to look on both ends of the network, to see
if the intermediate hardware is blocking or modifying any
packets. Try turning off any software firewall that may be
running on your gnugk machine.

It may also be useful to see if a different kind of IP
phone or ATA can register ok. If you don't have any, try
with a softphone.

If your debugging shows that the problem is with gnugk, post
your config, what version you are using on what platform, what
kind of box you are using, and a trace log.
