Hi, H.323 is not NAT-friendly. Calling an H.323 endpoint requires opening a TCP connection (typically on port 1720) from the caller or from the gatekeeper to the destination endpoint. This is exactly the kind of connection that NAT firewalls are designed to block! If you need just one endpoint behind each NAT, configure port forwarding for TCP port 1720 to the private address of the endpoint. If possible, also forward the UDP ports used for RTP. That may eliminate the need for ProxyForNAT, which can improve performance and voice quality. There are some clients using proprietary extensions to H.323 that can receive calls without having to set up forwarding. However, I don't know if any of them are compatible with gnugk. If you are starting a new project, you may wish to consider SIP (fewer problems with NAT), or IAX (no problems with NAT, but much more limited choice of hardware and software clients).
