Wow, my friend, this sounds impressive. But I think you have other problem, not the power of your system. I'm using a p4 2.4 with 1GB Ram (gnugk, mysql, radius) and everything work just fine, even in case of 100% CPU consumption. When your machine dies, which process is "killing" it? Maybe that process need to be optimised.
