Re: GnuGk hang

hi,

we experience hang issues as well. Process is running, you can connect
to status port but cannot execute any command there.

It is not related to traffic volume- it can happen even at very small
amount of traffic. It is rather related to type of equipment remote
endpoint is using. Probably some message is not correctly decoded or
understood and gnugk "hangs".

Regards, Aivis

I think of it more like a hang than a crash for some reasons:
1.) The status port is still up
2.) Process are still running

But it's still semantics.

What do you mean by "volume cases"?

I have a high traffic volume. a couple of calls x sec. But it is
running on a "good server", normally the load avg. is close to 0

Is there a work around for this?
Is this a normal behavior on high load (traffic)?

Maybe increased traffic volume cases some problems?

Thanks in advance

I have an installation of gnugk-2.0.8.

It's been working fine the last couple of months, but for
about a week or so it has been hanging at least once a day.

All calls stop been processed and the status port stops responding.
I've put the debug level to 5 but have found nothing interesting.

It's working in routed mode, with all gw's working as neighbors.

This is my version string :
'''
Gatekeeper(GNU) Version(2.0.8)
Ext(pthreads=1,acct=1,radius=1,mysql=0,pgsql=1,ldap=0,large_fdset=16384)
Build(Jun 14 2004, 08:58:40) Sys(Linux i686 2.4.22-1.2197.nptl)
Large fd_set(16384) enabled
'''
Any ideas on what could be happening?
