Hi Christos, IMO, the originating VIP has serious problems with progress tones in V3.26 (the latest I have) and older. If you are using fast start (out_fast_start on and fast start accepted by the destination gateway), the VIP will play any audio received, but if there is none, you get silence, even when an Alerting message is received. In this case, try setting h323 local_alert on the destination VIP. If not using fast start, the VIP will not negotiate H.245 until Connect is received, even when Progress has been signaled. It will generate a local audible ringing signal for Alerting, but otherwise you get silence. Unfortunately, if you have some destinations that only work with fast start, and some that only work without fast start, then you are out of luck, because out_fast_start is a global setting. Planet has been unwilling to provide me support on this issue and others, perhaps because we are not a big customer, or because their current development effort is mostly for SIP products. This makes the VIPs less attractive for future applications, even though they are inexpensive, have good voice quality, don't crash, and are very reliable. If you are a potential customer for many units, maybe Planet will help you. (It should also be possible to fix this trouble with some custom code in the GK, but that seems to be a lot of work.) Busy tone (VIP port busy) should not be a problem, because VIP sends Release Complete with proper cause code. Busy tone (audio played over FXO port) should also not be a problem, because the terminating VIP has sent Connect. Do you see the same troubles when testing without gatekeeper? What happens with fast start on and with it off? Does H.245 routed make any difference? What kind of port are you calling from and calling to? What is connected (PSTN, PBX, analog phone)? What versions of GK and VIP firmware? Good luck, Stewart ________________________________________ From: Ioannou [mailto:ioannou@xxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, July 19, 2004 11:43 AM To: openh323gk-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Cannot hear the progress or busy tone (VIP-200 VIP-400 Netmeeting client) Hi from Greece does anyone know why can not hear the progess tone or busy tone when i call from VIP-200 or netmeeting client to VIP-400 with gatekeeper, Thanks in advance Christos Ioannou ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by BEA Weblogic Workshop FREE Java Enterprise J2EE developer tools!
