RE: 2.0.8 version

oops, darn send button, here it is again:

Mandrake 9.1 Power Pack Edition
Kernel 2.4.22 with Mandrake kernel patches
Dual Pentium 3 933 MHz
1GB RAM
2 x 18GB SCSI Hard Drives (RAID 1 Hardware)
100BaseT connection to the LAN

I had configured 2 callgens to register to the GK, and then start passing calls
from one to another.
I managed to load around 900 concurrent calls in g711, which at that point one
of the callgens died
on me.

Nir,

What was the testing environment? I mean mdk release, kernel, patches applied,
processor type, # of Gigs of memory onboard, etc.

Hi Michal,

Well, I must admit that I'm using Mandrake Linux as my distro, and I'm using
the fully patched kernel, in order to achieve maximum capacity. I'm also always
compiling with the LARGE_FDSET as a default. 10,000 concurrent calls is somewhat
of a wet dream, but if I would manage to push it to around 1500 concurrent, that
would really be nice.

I've once managed to simulate 900 concurrent g711 calls passing through the GK
in routed mode, which worked nicely. The call generators failed before the gk
:-)

Do you mean 10,000 concurrent calls at time or 10K calls / hour.
The first is not realistic, the second one should be handled perfectly well.
As Jan suggested, enabling LARGE_FDSET increases performance significantly.
You
may need also to recompile your kernel to support more than 1024 sockets /
process.
