[joash@localhost openh323]$ ./samples/simple/obj_linux_x86_r/simph323

Looks ok :-)

&&I also try to execute under openh323gk/bin/gnugk and the following came out :

[joash@localhost openh323gk]$ cd bin
[joash@localhost bin]$ ./gnugk

Ok too :-)

&& Please kindly point out if this is normal ? What would the interface be when I actually run the gatekeeper. Is it joash@machine1 > ? The gnugk executable is found in my home directory ~/openh323gk/bin/gnugk , should the gnugk be place there ? Please advise and guide me. I am really lost. Thanks.

This mean that it's working. Executable (gnugk) can stay here or you can copy it in /usr/sbin or wherever you want. In build directory of gatekeeper you will find /etc one with ini files samples. Take a look on them, create/adapt one to your needs and copy it in /etc as gnugk.ini for instance. Then you are able to run something like

/usr/sbin/gnugk -c /etc/gnugk.ini -o /var/log/gnugk.log -t

Note: more you add t more gnugk will be verbose.

Please read manual to understand all commands and how to setup your ini file, depending on what you want to do.
