proxy and gk testing

i was able to do some testing on friday using a zarak bulk call generator with 8 Es of
origination and 8 for terminations and running calls thru gnugk. with proxy turned off, i was
able to run 240 calls at once with each call having a duration of 1 min per call. after the 1
min call, the zarak bulk call generator hangs up, gnugk generates a CDR and another call is
setup. i ran it for about 30 mins pushing through about 8K calls and everything worked great.
the gnugk pc was a dual pentium 4 1.5 mhz and 1 100 meg ethernet card. during all call
processing gnugk was taking about 15% CPU. it did not seem to affect the CPU with logging
on or off but call setup time was slightly longer with logging on. i did not have radius turned
on. gatekeeper was running in routed mode. the gnugk machine is running debian, 2.4.18
kernel. gnugk 2.0.6 release from the web site. the gateways were audiocodes with the latest
software. all equipment is on a private lan in the test lab tied to an ethernet switch.

upon turning on rtp proxy with as low as 10 calls up at once with a call length of 45 seconds,
the gnugk would run for no more than 5 minutes before a crash. i repeated the test 4 times
with 10, 15, and 24 max calls in progress with the bulk call generator. the end of the log
before the crash is this.

        mediaControlChannel = multicastAddress iPAddress {
          network =  4 octets {
            0a 28 37 65                                        .(7e
          }
          tsapIdentifier = 4091
        }
      }
    }
  }
2003/10/10 14:25:22.629 4        ProxyThread.cxx(659)   ProxyLC(0) 2 sockets selected from
24, total 24/4

i am going to install a second ethernet card in the gnugk pc monday and repeat the test.

i think i will have some more time to use the bulk call generator this week so if anyone desires
to look at this or wants the full log (rather large) ill be happy to supply.

best regards
ray
