Rio, Which compiler version are you running (try 'gcc --version')? Perhaps you should upgrade to Slackware 9.0, which uses gcc 3.2.2. Or you can compile a new version of the compiler yourself (put it somewhere like /usr/local/gcc-3.2.2 and it won't confilict with the system compiler). Or maybe there is an update for the compiler in Slackware 8.1.
