The ecj project is too late for GCC 4.2, and we still have the question of whether we want to import another Classpath release or something before then. Aside from that, I don't think I have any objection... but then, I already do all my Classpath development using the Eclipse compiler. Developers not doing this ought to voice their concerns, if any.
