I made examples of use cases:
- you can have different applications with different
functionality, but that use the same data source.
i gave you the example of tomboy->evolution,
GTG->evolution, but others can be valid also, like default
playlists from different players, email accounts,
calendar.
i think an example for this is evolution VS (tasks,
contacts, dates)[0], that uses the same data source.
so you can open a small and specialized app to write a
task, but have a big app that shows you the all things.
ex: tomboy notes' applet VS evolution to write a note.
Imagine, if i like evolution to manage mail, i can not
like it to write notes, but i would like to see them IN
evolution.
i take the evolution data-base, but gnome could adopt
other, specialized DB, that evolution and other could use.
basically, my point is that i have the same data in
diferent places and not related.

so ... what are you're opinions?
What is the point / purpose / use-case? Why would it be
better if it all
uses the same method?
Evolution sometimes makes use of mmap to reduce memory
usage. You
propose they should all use the same method, without
explaining why you
think it should be done. Perhaps all data could be put
into a database,
but.. why?
